William Schwartz

William (Billy) Schwartz passed away peacefully on July 15th, 2024, at the age of 93 in Hamilton Township, NJ. A resident of Toms River, NJ, William was born in the Bronx, NY to Danny Schwartz and Cecelia Cuccia Schwartz. He was a veteran of the US Army, in which he served for 3 years beginning at the age of 18. William was a New York City cab driver among other things, but his most notable job, and what he was most proud of, was being a New York City bus driver for the MTA and Mabstoa from 1970-1990. In his retirement (which was longer than the years he worked), Bill worked for a few other bus companies and some retail stores. As he grew older, he loved being home to watch the Mets on TV, along with other sports, news, and weather, as well as sitting outside talking to neighbors. He was also a champion runner and was part of the New York Road Runners Club for many years.

William is predeceased by his sister Winnifred, and brother-in-law Sal. He is survived by his wife, Sonya, of 46 years, his daughter Ann Marie of Potomac, MD, his son Daniel and fiancée Megan, of Charlotte, NC. Grandchildren Kristin, Vincent, Danielle and their families, his newest grandchild Kayleigh, sister and brothers-in-law, Elisa, Michael, Neil, and Stephen, nieces and nephew Suzanne, Charlie, Amy, Erica, and Lauren (and their families), and many others.

A service will be held at BG William C. Doyle Memorial Cemetery on Friday November 15th, 2024, at 11 am.
