Gertrude C. "Dolly" Weber, 96, of Lawrenceville, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 21, 2018 at her home in Grace Gardens at St. Mary's Assisted Living.
Born in Newark, NJ, Dolly spent her younger years in the Newark and Nutley, NJ area. She met her husband, Jack, in church; and they were married on September 18, 1943 and moved to Westfield. In 1959, they moved to Lawrenceville and joined the Central Baptist Church where they were very active. After retiring to Avalon for a period of time, they moved back to Lawrenceville to be closer to family. It was at this point they joined the Presbyterian Church of Lawrenceville to be able to worship with family and friends. Dolly enjoyed the fellowship she found at church and was involved with many different groups. Dolly and Jack enjoyed a lifelong deep spiritual faith.
Dolly was a homemaker who enjoyed caring for her family, she was an excellent cook and baker, a family favorite was her famous Weber Birthday cake. She was an excellent hostess for holidays, birthdays and special occasions. In addition to her unselfish dedication to family, she and her husband Jack enjoyed traveling, they were both avid readers, and enjoyed walking (especially to the library).
Predeceased by her parents, Paul and Emily Laubenstein Chester, her husband, Jack, her sister, Betty Greenwood Maloney, her grandson, Scott Weber and her nephew, Tracey Greenwood.
She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Paul and Carol Weber, of Easton, Maryland and Tom and Mary Weber of Lawrenceville; grandchildren, Erik (Laura) Weber, Kristen (James) Piano, and Kimberly Clarke; great grandchildren, Audley and Dara Clarke, Sarah and Maleeya Weber, Zoe and Roxie Weber, and Dylan Piano; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
Cremation and burial were held privately.
A Memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 26, 2019 at 11:00 am at the Presbyterian Church of Lawrenceville, 2688 Main Street, Lawrenceville, NJ. Please join Dolly's family immediately following the service in the church fellowship hall.
In lieu of flowers, her family requests that memorial contributions be made in Dolly's name to either the Presbyterian Church of Lawrenceville or the Friends of the Lawrence Library, 2751 Brunswick Pike, Lawrenceville, NJ, 08648.
