Bert Roger Matthews

Bert Roger Matthews 83 of Trenton New Jersey passed away November 8, 2024. He was born in Trenton on July 10, 1941. He was a graduate of Hamilton High School in 1959. Bert honorably served in the National Guard from 1959 t0 1962. He worked for 26 years for The McGraw Hill Companies, then spent several years as a handy man and helper for senior citizens in need.

Bert was a devoted and loving father and grandfather. He loved taking fishing trips annually with his friends and children. Bert loved spending his later years getting to spend time with his youngest grandchildren.

He is survived by his daughter Regina J. Behr and her fiancé Robert (Bob) Bates, his sons Mark R. Matthews and Paul C. Matthews, his grandchildren Joel Bass, Julia Bass, Connor Matthews, Madison Matthews, Yuri Gerkin and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents, Raymond Matthews and Lucy Matthews nee Joyner, his brothers Raymond, Jack, Frank and Paul Matthews, his sisters May Agins, nee Matthews, Elma Crunkleton nee Matthews and Ruth Malek nee Matthews and many close cousins, nieces and nephews.

A memorial service in his honor will be held at Franklin H. Rainear Jr Funeral Service, 1310 Prospect Street in Ewing New Jersey on December 7, 2024 at 11:00am. In Lieu of flowers, donations in Bert's honor can be made to Future Fisherman Foundation.
