5 Ideas For Creating New Holiday Traditions After A Death

Death in the family and the way that people deal with it changes based on many aspects.  Regardless of the reason for the end, it can be very challenging for people to deal with their loss, especially during the holidays.  However, you should take this opportunity to create new holiday traditions that will honor your loved one.

Indeed, many holiday traditions do not hold meaning once the person isn't with you any longer.  But you can always do different things that incorporate their memory, such as:

  • Involve yourself in charitable activities and try to see how you can help someone in need.

  • If your loved one had a specific charity that they donated to, take this opportunity to do the same.

  • You can cook some unique dishes during the holiday season, such as the ones that your loved one particularly relished.

  • You can also spend some time with all the family members that may be feeling lonely around the holiday season.

  • Invite all your family members and organize a family reunion.  This gives you a certain amount of support as you are around people that care about you.

  • The idea of doing these things is to create new traditions and not ponder upon your loss during this time.  All these traditions can include small aspects of the person you have lost, and this will bring you some solace from the extreme grief you are feeling.
